Evidence-Based Protection Science

Silicon Dioxide Protection Platform

Our ceramic coating leverages silicon dioxide nanotechnology to engineer a 9H hardness protective matrix that creates permanent molecular bonds with vehicle surfaces. This isn't temporary protection - it integrates with your paint system through chemical bonding.

Thermal Management Brake Coating

High-temperature ceramic technology rated to 1,200°F prevents brake dust bonding during Peninsula commutes and Stanford Hills driving. Critical for vehicles that experience thermal cycling from stop-and-go traffic patterns.

Optical Performance Glass Coating

Hydrophobic glass treatment creates 110° contact angles for optimized visibility performance. Water management becomes more efficient during Peninsula fog and winter precipitation events.

Glass Coating

Hydrophobic glass treatment creates 110° water contact angles for improved visibility. Water beads and sheets off windshields and windows during Sunnyvale's occasional winter rain.

Material Science Trim Protection

Advanced polymer treatment restores plastic components to specification while providing ongoing environmental resistance. Essential for Peninsula UV exposure that accelerates material degradation.

Interior Defense System

Fabric, leather, and synthetic material protection that maintains OEM performance standards. Liquid containment prevents penetration and permanent staining of interior surfaces.

Features Our Ceramic Coating Polymer Sealants Traditional Wax DIY Ceramic Sprays
Protection Duration 10+ Year Ceramic coating provides the longest protection duration of 2 years to lifetime, significantly outperforming other options. 4-8 months Polymer sealants offer medium-term protection, typically lasting 4 to 8 months before needing reapplication. 1-3 months Traditional wax provides the shortest protection, requiring reapplication every 1 to 3 months. 3-6 months DIY ceramic sprays typically last 3 to 6 months, offering better durability than wax but less than professional ceramic coatings.
Protection Strength 9H Hardness Ceramic coating provides 9H hardness protection, which is the highest level on the pencil hardness scale, offering superior scratch and chip resistance. Moderate (2H-4H) Polymer sealants offer moderate protection with 2H to 4H hardness on the pencil hardness scale. Soft (1H) Traditional wax provides only soft protection at around 1H on the pencil hardness scale, offering minimal scratch resistance. Moderate (2H-6H) DIY ceramic sprays typically offer moderate protection between 2H and 6H hardness, depending on the specific product.
UV Protection Complete Ceramic coating provides complete UV protection, preventing paint oxidation and color fading from sun exposure. Partial Polymer sealants provide partial UV protection that diminishes over time, offering moderate paint protection. Minimal Traditional wax provides minimal UV protection, requiring frequent reapplication to maintain even basic protection. Moderate DIY ceramic sprays provide moderate UV protection, better than wax but not as comprehensive as professional ceramic coatings.
Chemical Resistance Excellent Ceramic coating provides excellent chemical resistance against acid rain, bird droppings, tree sap, and other environmental contaminants. Moderate Polymer sealants offer moderate chemical resistance but can be degraded by stronger chemicals and contaminants. Poor Traditional wax has poor chemical resistance and is easily degraded by acids, solvents, and environmental contaminants. Moderate DIY ceramic sprays provide moderate chemical resistance but not as comprehensive as professional ceramic coatings.
Heat Resistance Up to 1,200°F Ceramic coating can withstand temperatures up to 1,200°F, providing excellent heat resistance for automotive applications. Up to 300°F Polymer sealants typically withstand temperatures up to 300°F before degrading. Melts at 180°F Traditional wax begins to melt at approximately 180°F, making it vulnerable in hot weather conditions. Up to 400°F DIY ceramic sprays can usually withstand temperatures up to 400°F before their protective properties begin to degrade.
Water Beading Excellent Ceramic coatings create exceptional water beading effects that last for years, making the vehicle easier to clean and maintain. Moderate Polymer sealants create good initial water beading but the effect diminishes over time. Minimal Traditional wax provides minimal water beading that quickly diminishes after a few washes. Good DIY ceramic sprays provide good water beading that lasts longer than wax but not as long as professional ceramic coatings.
Gloss Improvement 30-40% Better Ceramic coatings provide superior gloss enhancement, improving paint appearance by 30-40% with a deep, wet-look shine. 10-20% Polymer sealants provide moderate gloss improvement between 10-20%, creating a reflective but less dramatic finish. 20-30% Traditional wax can provide good initial gloss enhancement of 20-30%, but it dulls quickly compared to ceramic coatings. 10-25% DIY ceramic sprays typically improve gloss by 10-25%, offering a better finish than sealants but less dramatic than professional ceramic coatings.
Self-Cleaning Effect High Ceramic coatings create a hydrophobic surface that actively repels dirt and contaminants, significantly reducing the need for washing. Low Polymer sealants provide minimal self-cleaning properties, with dirt still adhering readily to the surface. None Traditional wax has no self-cleaning properties, with dirt adhering easily to the surface requiring frequent washing. Moderate DIY ceramic sprays provide moderate self-cleaning properties, helping to repel water and some contaminants but not as effectively as professional coatings.
Warranty Yes Professional ceramic coatings typically come with a warranty ranging from 2 years to lifetime, providing peace of mind and guaranteed protection. Rarely Polymer sealants rarely come with any warranty coverage. No Traditional wax products do not offer any warranty coverage. No DIY ceramic spray products typically do not include any warranty protection.
CARFAX Documentation Available Professional ceramic coating application can be documented in vehicle service records like CARFAX, potentially increasing resale value. No Polymer sealant applications are typically not documented in vehicle service records. No Wax applications are not documented in vehicle service records. No DIY ceramic spray applications are not documented in vehicle service records.
Value Over Time Best Long-Term Value Ceramic coatings provide the best long-term value by offering years of protection with minimal maintenance, despite the higher upfront cost. Moderate Polymer sealants provide moderate long-term value, requiring reapplication every 4-8 months. Highest Upkeep Cost Traditional wax has the highest long-term upkeep cost due to frequent reapplication requirements every 1-3 months. Moderate DIY ceramic sprays provide moderate long-term value, requiring reapplication every 3-6 months, making them more economical than wax but less cost-effective than professional ceramic coatings.

Solving Real Car Problems?

Why Tech Commuters Give Up on Car Care

ENGINEER SOLUTIONS, NOT TEMPORARY FIXES

If you’re tired of your car looking terrible despite constant effort, you’re not alone. Between campus parking under trees that drop debris constantly, fog that leaves water spots on everything, and commutes that coat your car in brake dust, traditional car wax is basically useless. Most tech workers just accept that car care is a losing battle.

Common Questions

How much does ceramic coating cost in Palo Alto?

Packages run from $595 for 1-year protection up to $1,295 for 10+ years, depending on vehicle size and which tier you choose. Most people go with the 3-year at $795 for a sedan — it hits the right balance of protection and cost. All packages include prep, clay bar, and polish. We’ll give you an exact number based on your car before we start anything.

Does coating hold up against 101 and El Camino brake dust?

That’s actually one of the main reasons it’s worth it here. Stop-and-go on 101 and El Camino throws iron-rich brake dust onto paint constantly. On an uncoated car it bonds and stains. Coated paint repels it and rinses off much easier — you’ll notice the difference after your first wash.

Can you work around a busy work schedule?

Yes. We take first appointments starting at 7:15am and can work at your office parking lot, home driveway, or anywhere in Palo Alto with a shaded spot. Most jobs are done before noon. Drop-off at our San Jose shop is also available if you prefer.

Does my car need paint correction before coating?

Not always. If your paint is in decent shape — no heavy swirls or visible scratches — we do a light polish as part of every package and coat right after. If there’s more to fix, we’ll tell you honestly when we look at it, before we touch anything.

Will ceramic coating protect against bird droppings near Stanford?

Partially. Coating makes them easier to remove and slows the etching process — bird droppings are acidic and will still damage clear coat if left in direct sun for days. The difference is that on a coated surface you have more time to get them off before damage sets in. We recommend wiping them off within 24 hours regardless.
